What is SKI for MS?
SKI for MS is the ski and snowboard event of the season. With on-mountain activities, prizes, and a bomber après, SKI for MS brings together participants of all ages, abilities, and skill levels for an epic all-day event that transforms the lives of families living with MS. Find a mountain near you.

What is the Vertical Challenge?
The Vertical Challenge is new this year and we're psyched! Throughout 7 mountains, we're trying to shred 5 million vertical feet together! It's super easy to participate. Register today, make your vertical pledge, and on the day of the event, you'll have 5 hours to carve out as many vertical feet as you can.

How it works

  1. At check-in, confirm you are part of the Vertical Challenge. Forgot to sign up? No worries! Just schuss on over and tell whoever is checking you in that you'd like to participate.
  2. Start tracking the pow! The Vertical Challenge begins with First Chair at 10am.
  3. Carve to a stop! Every vertical foot counts until 3pm. There are no specific runs. You have the entire mountain to carve out your own adventure.
  4. Rip your way to après and report your vertical feet.

How to track your vertical feet

There are several options depending on the mountain you are at. SKI for MS does not endorse one app over another.

Do I have to participate in the Vertical Challenge?

Not if you don't want to! You can also just come to ski/ride and après for a great cause!

How do I fundraise?
We've made it super easy for you!

  1. You can visit your participant center and find sample emails that you can send directly from there to friends and family.
  2. You can also check out the SKI for MS toolkit for sample emails and social media posts that are easy to copy and paste!

Are there ways to win prizes?
Yes! Check out these awesome fundraising incentives. Bonus…they are cumulative!

  • Raise $500 - Miir tumbler
  • Raise $1,000 - A lift ticket for you or your friend OR a Patagonia Black Hole bag
  • Raise $5,000 - $500 gift certificate to Peter Glenn Ski & Sports
  • Raise $10,000 - $1,500 valued travel package: Southwest Airlines voucher for $1,000 and a Marriott voucher for $500

What if I can't make it to a SKI for MS event?
No worries… you can still shred MS!

It's easy! Choose any mountain, hill, or bump near you and register as a virtual skier/snowboarder. Pledge your vertical feet, set a fundraising goal, and go get first tracks!

You'll have all the same fundraising tools available to you and be eligible for the same awesome incentive prizes! 100% of every dollar you raise will go straight to work helping families living with MS thrive! Fundraising will continue through March 31, 2020.

Is there a minimum age requirement for the Vertical Challenge?
No! We encourage people of all ages and abilities to participate.

How much does it cost to participate?
A $50 registration fee gets you access to the Vertical Challenge, a swag bag, breakfast, lunch, and free brews at our bomber après! Gnar points, bragging rights, and POW pics to follow…

Is a portion of the registration fee a donation?
No. Your registration fee does not apply towards your fundraising minimum, nor is it tax-deductible.

Does the registration fee include a lift ticket?
No, but if you fundraise at least $1,000, we'll give you a free lift ticket for the day-of! The lift ticket is transferable to a friend but it must be used on the day of the event.

When will I receive my fundraising prizes?
Any prizes you earn before the day of the event will be available for pick up at the après party. If you are picking up a lift ticket, that will be available in the morning at registration.

You don't have to stop there though! Fundraising continues through March 31. If you continue to earn prizes, we will ship them to you in early April!

Where does the money raised go?
100% of proceeds benefits Can Do MS. A nonprofit organization that delivers health and wellness education programs at no cost to help families living with MS thrive!
